Feichter Farm

-
Bernhard Feichter and his family can be found in a neat house in the centre of Dobbiaco. They support Rudolph Steiner's philosophy of the organic-dynamic farming. Rye, wheat, spelt, potatoes and seasonal vegetables are grown on the farm. Most of the seeds are self-cultivated and thus have adjusted to the local weather conditions and become especially resistant. The cultivated corn is ground in their own stone mill and then used for making bread.
Every Tuesday and Friday from 10 o'clock you can buy bread baked in Feichter's wood-burning oven. The type "bright house bread" has been awarded the first prize at "Premio Nazionale AIAB Pane biologico“ (International prize for biological bread). It was given the award BEST BIOLOGICAL BREAD OF ITALY.
The cleant spelt is used for sewing spelt cushions, which bring agreeable relaxation. A rarity is the so-called "Zigainerkraut" (South Tyrolean word for "henbane") which is used for spicing rye bread. The spice enjoys increasing popularity also in many bakeries abroad
